Pierandrea Angius Associate MArch, PhD, ARB
Pierandrea joined us as an architect in 2010, having previously collaborated with a number of studios in the UK and Italy. His specialist area of interest is the application of computational and generative tools to the design of the building envelope – he has brought his expertise in this field to a number of projects, including the Chengdu Contemporary Art Centre in China, Cairo Expo Hotel, BBK Headquarters in Zorrozaurre, Sky SOHO in Shanghai and a leisure complex in Macau.
Pierandrea has had an illustrious academic career, starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, including a year abroad at the “E.S.A.D.” Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design d’Orléans, followed by a Masters in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association. In 2012 he completed a PhD in Building Technology and Environmental Design at the Politecnico di Milano.
He has taught at the Politecnico di Milano, the University of Pennsylvania Visiting Design Studio in London and he has been a course tutor at the Architectural Association’s Design Research Laboratory since 2012.
His essays and projects have been published in Italyand UKand include: ‘Passive systems and natural ventilation in architecture’, published in Frames (2010); ‘Chimera Project, Mangal City’, article in AD volume 79 (2009); ‘Pluripotency – a Model for Parametric Design’, conference paper, 2009; ‘M.A.V. Audio-visual Museum in Rome’, published by CLUP,Milan (2005).
