One Thousand Museum breaks ground in Miami

On Friday 5 December, Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher joined 400 guests to celebrate the construction start of One Thousand Museum, Miami; a 66-storey residential tower opposite Museum Park with remarkable views across Biscayne Bay.

At the ground-breaking ceremony Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado and Commissioner Marc Sarnoff presented Zaha Hadid with the key to the city in honour of her first project in Miami.

One Thousand Museum’s external structure appears as if it were eroded from a solid and reads from top to bottom as one continuous fluid frame; expressing a fluidity that is both structural and architectural, as well as enabling the interiors to be column free.

Zaha Hadid said: “I love Miami. We are extremely excited, not only to build in the city, but also because it is a very ambitious and adventurous project.”
