London Aquatics Centre welcomes over 750,000 in its first year

Since opening to the public in March 2014, more than 750,000 people have visited the Aquatics Centre for swimming and diving lessons for all ages and abilities, as well as a variety of fitness and family sessions, water polo, synchronised swimming, triathlon, sub aqua, gym and the Tom Daley Diving Academy.

With a 2,500-seat capacity for spectators, the centre continues to host national and international events including the FINA/NVC 2015 World Diving Series and the 2015 British and 2016 European Swimming Championships.

Ten new world records were set in the Aquatics Centre during London 2012, with 1.5 million spectators visiting the building throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games; voting it the best venue of London 2012. But the centre was built for its legacy to London and it has now become a popular public space and sporting venue for the whole community.
