Wangjing Soho wins Excellence Award from CITAB-CTBUH 2016 Best Tall Building China

The China International Exchange Committee for Tall Buildings (CITAB) and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), with the support of the Architectural Society of China and the Architectural Society of China Shanghai, have recognized Wangjing Soho with an Excellence Award at the CITAB-CTBUH 2016 Best Tall Building China Awards

Based on the CTBUH worldwide tall building awards program, the CITAB-CTBUH China Tall Building Awards acknowledges the teams responsible for the most successfully executed high-rise projects in China. Recognizing innovative design, sustainability considerations, life safety, and contributions to the urban habitat, the China Awards Jury honoured projects that exhibit processes and innovations that add to the profession of design and enhance the cities and lives of their inhabitants

The Best Tall Building China category awards projects that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. Excellence Award recipients will be nominated to receive the Overall 2016 Best Tall Building China Award at the inaugural China Awards Symposium in Shanghai, May 2016

Designed and built for Soho China, Wangjing Soho also won First Prize in the 2014 Emporis Skyscraper Awards. Beijing’s rapidly developing IT and telecommunications sectors have established Wangjing as an important employment, residential, transport, educational and cultural hub in the north-east of Beijing; integral to the multi-modal urban plan for the capital that does not impact existing social and infrastructure networks in the centre of the city. A 521,265m² mixed-use development consisting of three towers 118, 127, and 200 meters in height, Wangjing Soho’s design brings together the surrounding community in a new 60,000m² public park. With all units in Wangjing Soho’s towers 1 and 2 sold before completion, the adaptability of its interiors enabled Soho China to successfully develop a new business model. Catering to the city’s growing IT sector and start-ups, Soho China now provides units in Tower 3 on popular short-term leases booked via their ‘SOHO 3Q’ smartphone app.
