A conversation on designing football stadiums at London’s Design Museum

Join Jim Heverin, Director at Zaha Hadid Architects, this Tuesday for a conversation on designing football stadiums at the Design Museum in London.

Project director for the Al Janoub Stadium, the first new venue commissioned for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Jim currently leads the team on the world’s first eco-stadium.

When completed, Eco Park Stadium will become the new home of Forest Green Rovers Football Club with important new facilities for its local community. With the team’s community and supporters at its core, fans will be as close as five meters from the pitch. The stadium’s continuous spectator bowl will maximise matchday atmosphere and incorporates the club’s future growth.

Establishing a holistic vision for the site, Eco Park Stadium will embody low carbon construction methods and operational processes and will be the first all wood football stadium - with almost every element made of sustainably sourced timber. As a building material, laminated timber is highly durable, safe and recyclable.

Forest Green Rovers’ Eco Park Stadium aims to be carbon neutral (or even carbon negative with the provision of on-site renewable energy generation) - demonstrating sustainable architecture can be dynamic and beautiful.

The evening panel discussion will take place between 18.30 – 20.00 on the 26th of April and Jim will be joined by Christopher Lee, Director of Populous and part of the team behind the RIBA 2021 award-winning redesign of Tottenham Hostpur and lecturer Jacqui McAssey, Founder of Girlfans zine.
