Arya Safavi Senior Associate AADipl, BArch(Hons), ARB

Profile
Arya joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2014, having completed four years of practice at Amanda Levete Architects. He has led the design, development, and delivery of a large and diverse range of mixed-use projects across all stages in Australia, South America, and Asia. He has worked across typologies and scales with a focus on complex geometry, computation, and advanced techniques of rationalization and fabrication.

Arya is currently the project architect leading the design and delivery of a major mixed-use development of 21 towers under construction in China. He was the project architect for the Alai Riviera Complex of 7 residential towers and a large multi-use podium in Mexico and was notably in charge of the design development, rationalization, and coordination of complex façade and exoskeleton geometries for Grace on Coronation in Brisbane, Australia. In parallel, Arya has been the design lead on several significant but confidential cultural, leisure, and entertainment projects.

At ZHA, he has also led the design and delivery of a number of major international cultural, residential, hospitality, and transportation competitions.

Education and Teaching
Arya has an AA Diploma in Architecture with distinction from the Architectural Association and a first-class honours bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Westminster.

He is a unit master at the Architectural Association, co-teaching Experimental Unit 18, and is an invited critic for architecture programmes at the AA, University of Westminster, and University of Brighton, amongst others.
