Gerry Cruz Associate A.A. [Hons], B.Arch. [Hons], M.Arch. [Hons]
Gerry joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2010. He obtained his Master of Architecture degree from the Design Research Lab at the Architectural Association in London, where he specialized in the use of computational tools and material behaviours to form new architectural and urban typologies.
Gerry has played a pivotal role in the design, development, and delivery of several ZHA landmark projects. During his tenure at ZHA Gerry’s built projects include the BEEAH Headquarters in Sharjah, UAE, Beijing Daxing International Airport in China, modular classroom systems for out of school children in Turkey and Pakistan, and Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Arts Centre in China.
Project experience overview
Gerry has worked on a large variety of projects across the globe and has been involved in all project stages from design concept through to construction and completion, with experience in on-site supervision, integration of sustainable technology, and LEED Platinum certification.
With a particular expertise in the design and construction of facade systems, Gerry has been responsible for leading the development of complex geometries into buildable external wall systems using advanced digital tools.
Gerry has taught a computational design workshop at the Architectural Association for several years. He has also lectured and showcased his work in many architectural institutions in the UK, the US, Mexico, the Middle East, and Asia. Gerry’s computational design methods involve parametric modelling to explore organisation, fabrication, and structural elegance.
