Lydia Kim Associate Director BA, Dipl-Ing., M.Arch (AA), ARB
Profile:
Lydia joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2010 and for her first two years she was based in the studio’s Beijing office working on the SOHO Galaxy development and the competition to design the new Beijing Daxing International Airport. Returning to London in 2012, she has been working on multiple large-scale mixed-used highrise towers, headquarter buildings, culture centres, and aviation projects. Her successfully built projects include Beijing Daxing International Airport, Nanjing International Youth Cultural Centre and Zhuhai Jinwan Civic Art Centre. Before joining ZHA in 2010, Lydia worked for seven years at KPF London and specialised in historic HQ building transformation and aviation projects.
With 20 years’ experience on a wide range of projects, Lydia leads projects with a focus on innovative design, parametric system solutions, complex geometry and fabrications, project management and sustainability. She is currently working on Tower C at Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.
Education:
She holds a master’s in Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Lab at the Architectural Association in London. Prior to this, she completed a Diplom Ingenier at Peter Behrens School of Architecture, Düsseldorf and an undergraduate degree at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London, as well as studying in the USA as a Fulbright Scholar and UK as a DAAD Scholar.
Teaching:
Continuing her affiliation with the Architectural Association, she has since taught at the AA’s Visiting School in Shanghai and Beijing.
