Profile                                                                                            Recently returned to the studio, Marco first joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2004 after his graduation from the Architectural Association, and was integral to several high profile projects including the competition for the London Aquatic Centre, Capital Hill Residence in Moscow and the itinerant Mobile Art Chanel pavilion.

In 2006 Marco joined AKT where he was instrumental to establishing the Parametric Applied Research Team. While at AKT, Marco kept collaborating with ZHA (and other world-class practices) in delivering seminal projects bridging geometry, engineering, computation and digital fabrication, including Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku.

For nearly a decade Marco ventured his career as founder of Opensystems Architecture, a design-led practice with built projects in UK, Italy, China, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Sweden and Libya. He designed, managed and led projects spanning from residential to industrial as well as retail and commercial.


Education & Teaching                                                                      Marco studied architecture at the University of Florence in Italy and at the Architectural Association in London, where he graduated in 2004.

Marco has led design studios at the Architectural Association and taught architectural technology at KTH Stockholm for many years. His academic research focused on questioning the role of automation and systemic thinking in the production of architecture and the built environment. He’s currently Head of Programme of the AA Visiting School Adriatica, a programme that studies the evolution and the future of urbanization along the Adriatic coast.

Marco often give lectures and is a regular guest critic in schools of architecture in Europe, Middle East, North America and the UK.  His projects and writings have been published in books and magazines worldwide.
