Paolo Zilli Associate Director PhD Arch, B Arch, Ordine Degli Architetti di Roma
Profile
Paolo joined ZHA to work on the Salerno Maritime Terminal project in 2001, and subsequently was involved in a number of large projects. Paolo has distinguished himself with his project management skills, strong listening ability and problem-solving attitude. His IT skills supported those capabilities, and he has become a reference in the office for solving sophisticated projects.
Before joining ZHA, Paolo designed, as freelancer, the large university campus in Forlì. The project consists of the conversion of the former city Hospital (dating between the 16th and the beginning of the 20th century) into a contemporary structure for 12, 000 students and it is a positive example of new design insertions in a heritage context.
Project Experience Overview
After the initial appointment for the Maritime Terminal, Paolo has been involved in a number of the practice’s major projects including the Napoli Afragola High Speed Train Station; the MAXXI Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome; d’Leedon residential towers in Singapore; Esfera City Centre, a mixed-use development in Monterrey, Mexico; the CityLife Generali office tower and shopping district in Milan; and, more recently, he has been project manager for the Western Sydney Airport in Australia. He is also one of the project’s Revit leaders, using the program on the CityLife projects in Milan since 2007 to enhance building accuracy and quality control during the design and construction process. In addition to leading projects, Paolo draws on his rich experience of applying software to the design and modelling of buildings to frequently act as an expert adviser on BIM, design integration and coordination in project delivery.
