Roger Howie studied at UCA School of Architecture, working in China and South East Asia before joining Zaha Hadid Architects in 2004 to lead the practice’s media communications. He has overseen the launch of more than fifty award-winning projects including the BMW Central Building, Guangzhou Opera House, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, London 2012 Olympic Aquatics Centre, Broad Art Museum, Heydar Aliyev Centre and Oxford University’s Middle East Centre, together with the Evelyn Grace Academy in London and MAXXI Museum in Rome that were both awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize.
Roger also directed communications for acclaimed retrospective exhibitions of Zaha Hadid Architects’ work at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Design Museum in London, State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg and the Venice Architectural Biennale; as well as the practice’s popular collaborations with brands that include Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Lacoste, Swarovski, Lalique and Georg Jensen.
In managing media relations and public affairs for one of the world’s most inventive architecture and design studios, Roger has worked with civic, academic and professional institutions worldwide to honour the practice’s work, as well as recognition of Zaha Hadid’s achievements such as Forbes Magazine listing Hadid as one of the ‘World’s Most Powerful Women’, Time Magazine including her in their list of the ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’, as well the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2016.
