Soungmin Yu Lead Architect Dr. Phil., MSc, BArch, ADPPA, ARB, RIBA
Upon joining Zaha Hadid Architects in 2014, Soungmin has worked on several direct commission and competition projects in Asia and South America, spanning different project types and scales. She has also worked as a specialist within the practice to research computational design methodologies to evaluate social performance of design proposals. Prior to joining the office, she worked for SOM in New York, Foster + Partners in London and UNStudio in Amsterdam.
Soungmin obtained her degree in architecture from Cornell University, Master of Science from Architectural Association School of Architecture, and PhD from Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien. She lectures at Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and has taught workshops and design studios in the UK, US and the Netherlands. Her research focuses on human spatial and social behaviour, qualitative aspects of the built environment, and digital design. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
