Zaha Hadid Architects at Venice Studio 2022

Venice Studio, supported by the Melbourne School of Design at the University of Melbourne, is an open global collaboration of architects and students working together on concept designs for Venice, Italy.

(Pictured above: Concept vision created by students for ZHA Venice Studio Melbourne that was held in January 2022.)

This two-week design studio programme asks students to consider the complexities of the historic city and its architecture in the contemporary age of cultural tourism. Considering the acute convergence of heritage, environment, mass tourism, and aesthetics to evaluate the adjacency of history and contemporary design culture, students respond to a brief designed by the respective office leading each studio. Students, accompanied by their studio directors, embark on multiple excursions out into the city and, in some cases beyond, to the Italian mainland for experiences outside the confines of the classroom and project site

Michele Pasca di Magliano, Maria Tsironi and Othmane Kandri leads Zaha Hadid Architects’ Venice Studio, that takes place in Venice from the 4-15 July 2022.

The program is open to architecture and urbanism students worldwide enabling opportunities to work together, forge new professional friendships around the globe and work closely with experienced architects and urbanists from celebrated international practices on the development of design projects for sites in Venice.

The open call for student applications is now open until the 1st May 2022. Find out more and apply via link below.
