Zaha Hadid designs Peekaboo bag for Fendi

Zaha Hadid’s design for the Fendi Peekaboo is a mille foglie of soft black leather. It has the finely finished buckle, zipper and handle of the original - yet in place of a single pocket, Hadid has reinterpreted the classic Peekaboo concept as a layered composition with a great many sleeves.

Plenty of visual associations are to be made: a cherished book that is carried and browsed at will; a portfolio with treasures in every fold; an expression of Fendi’s commitment to the finest materials and detailing.

The clarity of Hadid’s design conveys of the integrity and quality of Fendi’s heritage. For the architect, it is an opportunity to explore the materiality and craftsmanship of the fashion house, but most of all for Hadid, it’s a chance to help a wonderful cause that supports to so many children in the UK.

Hadid joins 9 other women in this special project for Fendi including the singer Adele, actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomie Harris, artist Tracey Emin, anchorwoman Kate Adie and model Cara Delevingne.

The bag will be on display until 30 May at the new Fendi flagship boutique in New Bond Street, London.

Bids for the Zaha Hadid Peekaboo bag for Fendi can be made until 30 May at the Fendi Life website in collaboration with Sotheby’s:  www.fendi.com
