Mouzhan Majidi named RAIC Honorary Fellow

Mouzhan Majidi has been named an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC). Acknowledging professionals who have significantly impacted architectural practice around the world, RAIC Honorary Fellows exemplify the tremendous impact that architects have—not only on the built environment—but public life and the world around them.

Joining Zaha Hadid Architects as Chief Executive in 2015 following a 27-year career with Foster + Partners where he became CEO in 2007, Mouzhan was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows this year. Recognized as an outstanding designer and architect with 35 years of pioneering research in the widest diversity of civic and commercial projects, his designs and leadership have established new benchmarks for innovation, user-experience and sustainability in architecture used by over 500 million people each year.

As an architect taking on the role of CEO, Mouzhan prioritizes design excellence with an integrated, holistic approach, cultivating the skills and diversity of some of the world’s most creative talent to deliver transformational projects across six continents.

Setting new global standards for the aviation industry, Mouzhan has redefined the development of airports. Beginning with Stansted in 1987, each new design for Hong Kong, Beijing Capital, Amman, Beijing Daxing, Navi Mumbai and Western Sydney is more energy efficient, environmentally discreet, technologically advanced and simple to use.

“I am deeply honoured to be awarded Honorary Fellowship to the RAIC College of Fellows. Canada’s remarkable diversity and unwavering optimism for the future is echoed in my own passion to enhance the quality of life in all our communities,” said Majidi. “With a truly collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that enriches the built environments we create, our work captures imaginations around the world in architecture that embraces new ideas and technologies to address the defining challenges of our era.”

Since 1907, the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC) has represented architects and architecture as the leading voice for excellence in the built environment in Canada, demonstrating how design enhances the quality of life, while addressing important issues of society through responsible architecture. The RAIC’s mission is to promote excellence in the built environment and to advocate for responsible architecture.
