Wangjing SOHO celebrates its 5 year anniversary

Five years ago, Wangjing SOHO, Beijing celebrated its inauguration.

The world’s first commercial development to fully integrate fifth-generation (5G) internet connectivity throughout its operations, Wangjing SOHO is a 521,265m² mixed-use development consisting of three tapering towers that are 118m, 127m and 200m in height; its design brings together the surrounding community in a 60,000m² public park at its base.

Employing 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) in its design, construction and operational management to reduce energy consumption and emissions, Wangjing SOHO received LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council and was awarded the Zhan Tianyou Award in 2017. Named after the 'father of China’s railways', the Zhan Tianyou Award is the highest honour for innovation in China's civil and structural engineering industry.

Winner of the 2014 Emporis Skyscraper Awards, the world's foremost prize for high-rise architecture, Wangjing SOHO also received a 2016 Excellence Award from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

Wanging SOHO is one of four ZHA collaborations with SOHO China to achieve LEED certification, totalling 15 million square feet (1.4 million m²) of mixed-use urban space in Beijing and Shanghai.

With all units in Towers 1 and 2 sold before completion, the adaptability of Wangjing SOHO’s design enabled SOHO China to develop ‘SOHO 3Q’ within Tower 3 offering shared office space booked via smartphone app. Now established in SOHO China’s developments throughout the country, ‘SOHO 3Q’ has grown to become China’s most popular co-working space.
