Satoshi Ohashi, Director at Zaha Hadid Architects, to speak at the Malaysian Institute of Architects’ (PAM) Datum Conference at the Kuala Lumpur Festival of Architecture 2016

The festival is an annual celebration of Architecture and Urbanism in Kuala Lumpur. The Datum Conference takes place from 22-23 July, 2016 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

This year’s theme is ‘Future Communities: Re-emergence of Social Urbanism’ and looks at the importance of architecture with a social purpose as being centric to building today’s cities. Starting with the rise of economic power in the East, unprecedented rates of urban migration and burgeoning demographics resulting in the rise of megacities within the context of emerging economies, speakers will examine if there is a need to move away from object-centric to people centred paradigms .

Along with the other participants, including architects and designers from Japan, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia, the conference will address architecture’s role in envisioning, facilitating and managing such scales of urbanization in shaping the physical and social fabric of the city.
